On Friday 5th March, Robert Mathieson and myself (Ewan McAllister) spent many hours at the RSPBA headquarters in Washington Street, Glasgow after being allowed access to the complete collection of the Association's magazine ' The Pipe Band'. Both Robert and myself had to stop ourselves reading all of the magazines from cover to cover and concentrate on searching for articles relating to Shotts. During our search we found dozens of articles about Shotts, in fact the first ever article in the first ever edition of the magazine published in November 1948 was about Shotts band, another first (Article reference
